Maintenance User Guide
Downloading Patients to your Laptop

Ensure you upload any existing mobile data before downloading to your laptop. Failure to do this may result in the loss of your data.

To Download Patient Records to a Mobile Computer:

Locate and double-click the MedicalDirector Maintenance icon on your desktop. The MedicalDirector Maintenance window appears.

Select the Database Tasks > Clinical menu item.

Double-click

If this is the first time you have tried to run MedicalDirector Mobility during this session of working in MedicalDirector Maintenance, you will be prompted to select a Configuration, and enter your Username and Password.

Select your database configuration to download the data. If you have multiple databases containing your patient information, ensure you have selected the appropriate database from the Configuration field. Only one set of patient records from any database can be downloaded at a time. If you have inadvertently selected the wrong database, you must exit MedicalDirector Mobility and MedicalDirector Maintenance, and then restart MedicalDirector Mobility before you can select the correct database.

The MedicalDirector Mobility utility appears.

Click   The Download to Mobile Client window appears.

The left side of this window offers mechanisms for selecting which patients or lists of patients you wish to download.

The right side of this window displays the list of patients selected for download.

(Optional) Search for patients to download by typing the patient's name into the Search for Patient text box. The list of matching names will grow dynamically with your text. You can also choose to include patients previously flagged as inactive. If necessary, click the button to specify criteria.

Add patients to the Download List by either:

Selecting individual patients from the list and click or dragging-and-dropping the patient into the Download List, or double-clicking the patient's name

Selecting lists of patients you created earlier. Select the list name from the Patient Lists section and click

Selecting to download all patients in the database by enabling the Download All Patients check box

The Download List supports a maximum of 2,500 (patient) entries. This includes those contained in Patient Lists. For example, if you have added a Patient List consisting of 2000 patients to the Download List, you could add another 500 patients before the maximum was reached.

This does not mean that you are limited to downloading a maximum of 2500 patients in one session, as you could elect to download your entire patient database regardless of the number of patient records, by enabling the Download All Patients checkbox.

If there are more than 10,000 patients to download, a message is displayed informing you that the download may take considerable time. You will be given the option of cancelling the download if need be.

Once you have populated the Download List with all the patients and/or patient lists you wish to download, click to begin the download.

You will be prompted to confirm the download. Click Yes to continue. The download commences. You will be prompted when the download completes successfully.

Close MedicalDirector Maintenance and log off from the main MedicalDirector Clinical Server.

Whilst still connected to your network, restart and log on to MedicalDirector Clinical. When prompted to log on, select the MedicalDirector Mobile Data configuration from the drop down field. You must log into Clinical using your MedicalDirector Mobile Data before you can use your laptop independent of the MedicalDirector Clinical server.

Open some patient records to verify the download's success.

Log out of Clinical and disconnect the computer from the network. You can now use your laptop off-site. When you return to the surgery and reconnect to the network, you will be able to upload the patient records, back to the main Clinical database.
