Progress Notes Options

These options are set per computer, not per practitioner.

Tools > Options > Progress Notes Tab   (via the Main Screen only)

 

The Progress Notes tab of Clinical Options allows you to setup options for the recording of Progress Notes. Access to Options is provided via user permissions.

Visit Type

Allows you to select the default visit type. This relates to the prompt that appears upon closing the patient's record. See the Prompt to confirm Visit Type option below. You can add your own 'visit types' via Lists Options.

Record Progress Notes

Selecting this option displays the Progress tab in the patient's Clinical window. Clearing this check box prevents the collection of Progress Notes. All other options on the options window are reset to the default setting and are unavailable for further changes.

Save in Past Medical History

Sets the default state of the Save in Past Medical History check box within the Reason for Contact module under Progress tab.

Prompt to Save Progress Notes

Selecting this option enables a prompt that asks you whether you want to save the Progress Notes you had just written on closing a Patient's record.

Record consultation time

Select this option to store the Start and End times and the Duration of the consultation in the database when the record is closed. The Start time and Duration are displayed in the Previous visits section of the Progress notes display. With this option cleared only the End time is recorded in the database and the Start time and Duration are unable to be displayed in the Previous visits section.

Note: If you do not wish to see the consultation timer and do not want the Start time and Duration recorded in the patient's progress notes, both 'Hide consultation timer' and 'Record consultation time' must be cleared.

Record Progress Notes Prompt

Select this check box to display a prompt to save a record of the visit when closing the patient record, if no changes have been recorded.

Hide consultation timer

Select this option to hide the Visit timer on the patient's Clinical window. The Start and End times and Duration are still recorded in the database.

No Generated Notes

Selecting this option disables the automatically recording of Progress Notes based on selections made and actions taken during the consultation. For example, when printing a prescription.

Prompt for Medicare item no

Selecting this option displays a prompt to select a Medicare Benefits Schedule item number when closing a patient's record.

Disable Visit Types

Disables the Visit Type drop-down list in the patient's Progress Notes.

Prompt to confirm Visit Type

Select this option if you wish to be prompted to confirm the recording of a 'visit type' in the patient's Progress Notes upon closing the patient's record.

Autosave notes (secs)

Select this option to force Clinical to save the Progress Notes to the patient's record in this time interval as you create them. Using the autosave option lessens the potential risk of loosing notes, for example, power failure or network malfunction.

Use rich text when saving medication reviews in notes

Select this option to save medication reviews in Progress Notes using the Rich Text Format. With this check box clear you may see formatting codes mixed with the text.

Auto-capitalise names

Allows you to setup Clinical to automatically capitalise names entered on this form.
