Searching for Patients

Patient > Search Patient

Option 1 - Standard Search

From within the Waiting Room, either:

Click Find Patient

Select Patient > Search Patient

Press F2

 

The Search Patient window appears.

 

Select the patient you are looking for from the database.

Option 2 (Advanced Search)

If you do not have enough specific information to select a patient, you can conduct an advanced search of the patient database.

From within the Waiting Room, either:

Click

Select Patient > Advanced Patient Search.

 

The Advanced Search Options window appears.

 

Select the type of information to search for from the Search drop-down menu. Selections include:

Name

Chart Number

Medicare Number

Vet File Number

Date of Birth

 

Enter data to search for in the For text box.

Select the scope of the search from the Matching options.

(Optional) Include inactive patient records by selecting the Show Inactive Patients check box.

Click Search to conduct the advanced search. The Advanced Patient Search window appears, displaying any matches found.

Option 3 (Swipe Card)

From within the Waiting Room, either:

Click Find Patient

Select Patient > Search Patient, or

Press F2

 

The Search Patient window appears

 

Swipe the patient's Medicare card. The Select Patient window should become populated with one or more patients registered to that card, as indicated above.

Option 4 (Patient Details window)

From within the Waiting Room, click  The Patient Details window appears.

Enter the patient's name using Surname, First Name format, for example Andrews, John.

If there is only one match, Pracsoft immediately opens that patient's record. If there are no matches or multiple matches, the Select Patient window appears, enabling you to select from the listed patients (if any).
